A huge part of my spiritual and witchcraft journey has been an undoing of narratives. Of who I am. Of what I want. Of how others perceive me.
Sometimes, I wish I’d found this earlier. Other times, I feel as though everything came together at exactly the right time. I may never know the answer.
There’s one practice I’ve held for nearly two years. I keep coming back to it again and again, because it has radically changed my self-concept. It has convinced me that I am worthy simply because I exist. And I am continually surprised by what comes to me during this meditation.
In fact, I’m not sure it’s fair to call it a meditation at all. It is more of an active visualization.

These tools are not a requirement. But I do like to use tools, so I’ve listed them here.
· A cleansing tool of your choice: incense, ring a bell, burn rosemary, your choice!
· A candle, and something to carve into it if you like.
· Spell oil that aligns with your intention.
· Incense or other offerings to your spirit guides. I like to use Papier d’Arménie because it contains frankincense (an ancient and sacred ingredient) and is easy to use daily.
· Ambient music. Some people are staunchly no-music meditators, and if that’s you, you have my respect; I can barely manage it.
· A mental list of places you have been, or would like to be, across the earth
· Time to be alone. Depending on the day, this may take me five minutes or twenty-five minutes.
Cleanse your space. Carve your name and/or intention into the candle. You can dress the candle with spell oil if you like, then light it. But the oil is intended for you. Light your offering and say out, “I offer this to my guides and my ancestors of the highest truth and intention.”

Settling into a seated position (I am typically sitting cross-legged on the floor), dispense three drops of oil into your palm. Anoint your crown, the back of your neck, and your heart. Rub the remaining oil between your palms and bring them towards your face. Breathe the scented oil in. Rest your hands, palms up, on your knees.
Imagine a golden column running from your tail to your spine. Think through how it looks. Is it warm? Does it move like liquid, or steam? Is it solid? Whatever it is for you, see it, feel it, believe it.
Once you can feel its shape, extend the golden beam down towards the earth. Sink into the earth, connecting to the roots and the plants. Visualize yourself connected to the soil microbiome. Say hello to the plants near you, thank them for their presence.
When you are ready, sink into the groundwater. Imagine traveling through that groundwater as though it were time and space. It is taking you to a memory or a place where you felt whole, loved, peaceful, or full of joy. Live in that moment.
When you are ready, sink back into the groundwater. Move further across the globe. To a place you’ve been, or never been but wish to be. I often find myself on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. What does this next place smell like? Feel like? Is there a loved one there? Exist here for a while. Feel that a golden thread connects you to where you are sitting, and where you see yourself now.
When you are ready, cross the globe again. Repeat, until you have looped the world with a golden thread.
Returning to where you are sitting, feel the connection to the whole of the earth. You are rooted, anchored.
Now, send a golden thread up into the sky. Visualize floating through space, across and around the Milky Way, the moon, or the sun. See the pale blue dot that is the Earth, and the golden thread that anchors you to home.
Take a moment to honor how incredible it is that you exist in the vastness of all that is. That you are a unique marvel to behold.
When you are ready, descend the golden loop you’ve built in the universe. Settling back into your body, feel that you lie at the center of an Ouroboros, connecting you to all that is above and below.
Open your eyes, and say something about yourself. This could be “I adore and accept myself” or whatever resonates for you. As always, give thanks to your higher self, the universe, your guides, or whatever feels appropriate to your practice.

Over time, you may find that your mind wants to linger in a specific place or go somewhere new. As long as you feel grounded, let your visualization wander. Something profound may come out of it!
